Douglas grew up in the Midwest and later in life, took a less traditional path to becoming an artist.  After a 20-year career in the corporate world, Douglas turned her focus fully to learning how to become an artist. Her early experience as a docent for a major corporate art collection deepened her understanding of contemporary art and gave her a desire to study traditional drawing and painting.  

Douglas’s work has been recognized in juried exhibitions, receiving awards for both landscape and still life painting. In addition to her studio practice, she has shared her knowledge of painting and drawing with adult students for more than 20 years.

She continues to develop new series that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect through color and form.
